Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Kitesurfing and wingfoiling are sports for everyone – we start teaching at 7 years of age, as per the IKO directives. And there is no age limit! We have equipment for all weights and wind conditions.

We follow the IKO certification standards, each lesson starts with a refresher of the previous step and then gets into the new things to learn.

We always provide our students with a tentative time for the lesson, which we confirm via whatsapp in the morning.

On the east coast of Zanzibar the tides are a visible phenomenon with cycles of 6 hours between low and high tide. The tides delay every day of approximately 30 to 45 minutes, so there is water enough to swim at different times every day.

However this is not a problem for us as we go to another spot with a lagoon where there is always water.

During the courses we provide all relevant equipment – including a short sleeves rash vest and reef shoes as well as safety equipment.

You need to bring your own sunglasses and suncream, plus swimsuit and a pair of swimming shorts.

We rent wetsuits should you prefer to wear one.

Our lessons start at the time you leave the school and are ready for the lesson and finish at your return. If the lessons take place in another spot timing starts at the spot when everything/everybody is ready for teaching.

Our group lessons prices are for private group. With the exception of kitesurfing / wingfoiling camps, all group lessons are private within your group.

As an IKO PRO CENTER we only work with IKO certified instructors who deliver the best experience and in the safest possible way.

We also regularly run professional courses for instructors and assistants.

Yes, at the beginning of your course you are enrolled into the IKO system as a new student and at the end of the course you are certified online according to your level.

In order to rent equipment you need to be a fully independent kitesurfer able to ride upwind and do transitions – equivalent to a level 3L in the IKO certification standards.

Wingfoilers also can rent when able to ride upwind.

We accept cash payments (USD, Euro or Tanzanian shillings) and card payments (excluding American Express). Card payments have a surcharge of 5%. All downpayments are made through a secure link.

There are now several ATM machines in Paje, should you prefer to withdraw money. In Tanzania you cannot withdraw dollars but only local currency.

In order to secure you a spot, we require advanced booking and a down payment of 25% of the value of the course. Upon arrival you will pay the remaining amount corresponding to your chosen package.

In case of weather related issues ONLY we refund the pro-rated amount.

During the courses the gear is under the responsibility of the instructors, however during rental the renter takes full responsibility and is liable for any damage.

It is recommended to subscribe to an insurance covering the gear damages if you decide to rent.

Zanzibar is considered to be safe. It is an island and it is still mostly made of small villages. However there is still a visible wealth gap between tourists and locals, therefore it is recommended to use common sense and avoid walking around isolated areas with valuables and at night.

No vaccination is required to enter Zanzibar, with the exception of yellow fever if coming from an endemic country. Covid vaccination is also not required, nor a test.

Although not common, malaria and dengue are present in Zanzibar. Mosquito repellent, long sleeves at sunset and mosquito nets in the night are normally enough to prevent bites.

Consult your doctor for advise on preventive medications.

Always remember to mention you have been in Africa if you manifest fever after you are back in your country of origin.
